Work in progress

I'm working hard over the next few months to finish a book called Someone: The Pragmatics of Misfit Sexualities in French Literature since 1930.  It's a kind of sequel to my last book, Never Say I: Sexuality and the First Person in Colette, Gide, and Proust and it starts with a chapter on Colette in the 1930s. An excerpt of that chapter appeared in France in a new volume on Colette at the end of 2011. Another brief preview of the Colette material appeared in the bulletin of Berkeley's Townsend Center for the Humanities this spring. Other authors I am studying in this volume include Simone de Beauvoir, Jean Genet, Marguerite Duras, Violette Leduc, Hervé Guibert, and Robert Pinget....
